Question:   How do I apply for the first-time homebuyers program?

Answer: 

Your first step is to attend our Homebuyers Orientation Program. Please contact our Homeownership Department for the schedule and registration information.

 

Question: Does Housing Partnership only serve low-income families?

Answer:

No: Housing Partnership will assist any individual or household with housing counseling,  foreclosure intervention, mortgage lending, credit and budget counseling regardless of income. Housing Partnership also helps families access certain program, which have income limits as part of the program. These include IDA matched savings accounts, assistance with filing federal tax returns and enrollment in federal benefit programs such as food stamps. Housing Partnership’s supportive housing services are limited to low income individuals and families.

Question: Does Housing Partnership charge for its services?

Housing Services:

Housing Partnership will assist any individual or household with housing counseling, foreclosure intervention, credit and budget counseling and financial education at no cost. Our homebuyers’ education classes charge a $30.00 fee to cover materials, which can be waived if a family is experiencing a financial hardship.

Housing Partnership’s mortgage lending division charges fees based on the size and type of loans required by the borrower. These fees will be discussed with the borrower during the application process. Housing Partnership may also collect other fees necessary to obtain a mortgage such as appraisal fees and inspection fees.

Community Services:

Most of the services offered through the Beacon Centers and Mentoring Programs are free of charge.  There are very modest program fees associated with the after school programs and summer camps.  The array of program services is intended to develop a sense of community.  Participant volunteerism as a way of giving back to the community is encouraged.
