Riviera Beach, FL – Housing Partnership Inc. dba Community Partners, a member of the NeighborWorks network, is receiving $329,500 in flexible grants from the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation, dba NeighborWorks America. This FY 2017 grant funding (appropriated through Public Law 115-31 – the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2017) will provide a much needed boost that will support Community Partners’ affordable housing and community development activities.
"Community Partners educates and counsels Palm Beach County residents seeking to purchase their first home or choosing to create financial stability by participating in our Prosperity Center programs," said Lynda Charles, Vice-President of Housing Services. "In addition to offering individual financial coaching, we offer our clients the opportunity to participate in our individual development account (IDA) program where we match their savings. Our relationship with NeighborWorks enables us to offer and maintain these services for over 500 clients annually."
“NeighborWorks money is particularly impactful as it not only funds specific projects but also because it is used to leverage other community needs in Palm Beach County," she continued. "For example, our NeighborWorks grant last year enabled us to make connections with Palm Healthcare Foundation and we are currently collaborating on several projects dedicated to Changing The Odds for children and families.”
Community Partners is dedicating $172,000 to our mission of Changing The Odds for Palm Beach County’s children and families. As Community Partners was ranked ‘Exemplary’ by NeighborWorks, the organization will be receiving $152,500 which will go towards lending and real estate development.
NeighborWorks America is announcing more than $68 million in grants to its network of more than 240 nonprofit organizations located around the country. NeighborWorks organizations will use the grants to develop and manage high-quality affordable housing; make loans to homeowners and small businesses; offer financial coaching, homeownership education and counseling; and revitalize and strengthen communities.
"We’re committed to being good stewards of taxpayer dollars, and NeighborWorks ensures our investments are working in ways that transform lives,” said Paul Weech, NeighborWorks America president and chief executive officer.
In fiscal year 2016, the NeighborWorks network assisted 360,000 individuals and families with affordable housing, owned and managed 154,100 rental homes, counseled and educated 115,000 customers, and created more than 53,600 jobs.
